THE ANGLES
OF ANGULO
"The Angles of Angulo" marks a significant milestone in my journey as a writer for The Muse. Being my first assignment, it challenged me to adapt to the unique style and expectations of this new environment. Through the process, I was able to hone my skills in interviewing in order craft a true, and interesting narrative about Mr. Angulo joining Dreyfoos photography full-time. The piece came together seamlessly, also reflecting my growth and adjustment.
I was glad to have this story because not only did it represent a pivotal moment in my development as a journalist, but I also related heavily to Mr. Angulo as we're both Peruvian, and both love anything camera-related. This assignment was truly a match made in heaven, and I knew that in the moment that I came up with the name right after looking at Mr. Angulo's name!

Animating
With Intelligence
"Animating With Intelligence" was a significant leap for me as a writer, being my first contribution to Issue 1. Therefore, the scale was much larger and the complexity of the topic demanded persistence, from navigating the intricacies of AI in animation to crafting a well-rounded narrative. Through a lot of trial and error, I pushed myself to refine the story, ultimately creating a polished piece that I believe was able to showcase both depth and clarity on the topic.
This story symbolizes growth for me, specifically in tackling challenging topics and adapting to high-stakes opportunities. It taught me a lot on the value of persistence, collaboration, and striving for excellence - all of which are key to my journey as a journalist.

SIGNIFICANT
STEPS, LASTING
ENCOUNTERS
Working on "Significant Steps, Lasting Encounters" allowed me to refine my skills even further in arts coverage, building on my experience with previous features like the Angulo story. While the process felt more familiar, the unique focus on a significant event for both students and audiences pushed me to adapt and further develop my perspective on storytelling. By delving into the artistry and collaboration behind "Step by Step," I was able to gain a deeper understanding of covering performances and the creative processes that exist within the arts.

WHY SOME MOVIES, LAST
FOREVER
is opinion article stands out as my favorite because it allowed me to merge my deep-rooted passion for filmmaking, with my journalistic voice. Exploring the factors that make a movie a classic felt truly personal and meaningful, letting me channel my enthusiasm for film into a thoughtful and heartfelt opinion piece. Writing it not only let me exercise my knowledge of the film industry but also allowed me to infuse the story with genuine emotion.
For me, "Why Some Movies Last Forever" represents the perfect blend of professional and personal writing - and that's what my writing is all about. It captures my love for film while demonstrating my ability to craft an engaging piece. This story is my favorite work in my opinion, reflecting where my passions and true voice lies as a writer.

KEEP YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME
Writing "Keep Your Head in the Game" was not only a great learning experience on writing a sports story, but also a very rewarding story to go out and experience and then tell. It was the most hands-on work I've done as a journalist on The Muse, and just travelling to tryouts, games, and grabbing on-set interviews brought me back to basics and really helped me realize what it meant to be a journalist. It meant letting your curiosity run free. Asking questions to people, wanting to, NEEDING to know the answer. Observing and learning from everything you see. And from that, forming a story that's worth telling. That's what journalism is all about.
